My Superhero

I write today not of fashion or make up. I write today for my Superhero, my dad. I will try my best to keep it short and I plead with you to read it.

Last saturday, he was admitted to the hospital due to a severe headache, high blood pressure and vomiting. After running some tests, we were informed that he has a subdural hematoma which is putting pressure on his brain. He has to undergo a procedure called Burr Hole Craniotomy, wherein they will drill a tiny hole in his skull to drain the blood. According to his doctors, this procedure is on the safer side compared to other brain surgery. BUT as with any operation, it is not without risks.

I can just simply ask of you for prayers and I will but I thought I'd like for you to know him first. I want to give you a glimpse of the man who you'll be sending your prayers for.

My dad is a simple man. It doesn't take much to make him happy. In fact, a full tummy is all he needs to take on any challenges. He's a foodie who prefers home cooked meal to a fancy 5-course one. A cup of perfectly cooked white rice will earn you praises in his book.

He's funny. Sarcastic but funny. Even with the corniest jokes, he'll make you laugh. If not for anything but his boisterous laughter. And he always laughs so heartily that it is often followed by a choking cough, like "HAHAHAHAHA uhugh uhugh". you have to hear it, it's great!

He's never finish high school but he's the wisest man I know. The doctors asked him yesterday what certain fingers were called and he honest to goodness did not know, but his advice will always be the one I'll take. His first language is Chinese that's why he's not so familiar with Tagalog or English. He's also "bulol" which is one of the most endearing quality about him. If you ask him to say"baril" he will say "gun".

He worked hard for everything! He gives 100% to anything he does. He worked all his life for us and even then was never a negligent father. He always listens to our stories with honest interest. I'd tell him about the most random thing that pops in my head and we'll be talking for hours. He'd give you his full attention anytime of the day (as long as he's with a happy tummy).

He's not religious, nor superstitious. But he prays, he believes in something other than himself. His faith is strong.

He is not a hugger. He need not be. Everything else he says and does speak volumes of his love for us. But he happily obliges when you force him to.

He's generous and unbiased.  He has never held a grudge on anyone, about anything. Amongst the many heartbreaks that life has thrown at him he has remain this wonderful, joyous and forgiving man.

He's annoying sometimes. yes, he is. He is the type of person that will remind you to do something over and over and yes, over again until you finally do it. He can be a nagger.

Naturally, I will say he's the Best Dad because he is. But he is also the Best Husband to my mother, the best son to his Mother, the Best Brother to his siblings, and the Best Tito to my cousins. you can go ask them, they'll attest to that. He is the very core of our family. He's our center, our very own Superman. He lights up our life. He's our strength.

And He's my best friend, the most important person in my life. He's greater than any words I can use. So I ask of you to say a little prayer for him. Send him some love. Send him positive vibes. He's going to have the surgery tomorrow at 1pm. I believe in the laws of attraction, in having faith. The more people with heartfelt prayers and thoughts, the more he'll come out of it in perfect condition.

I ask not only because I'm scared of losing him but because he deserves it. He wants to go to many more places. To experience many more things. I want to give him more joy...to repay him for everything.

Something soft for the weather.

It's inevitable...there's less wind and more sun. I do like the sunlight for my photos.

Pardon the remote on my hand...I've tried hiding it but it just made me seem stiff and awkward.

It really wasn't the best day for this outfit. That sweater was definitely meant for colder weather. I was sweating the whole time I was taking these photos and needed to take breaks just to cool myself down.

I really am not ready for summer to come,  I don't want to part ways with my blazers just yet. I'd probably still brave the heat with them, I'm too stubborn and obsessed.

And speaking of obsessions, I have a new one. yet again. Undies!!! the cute kind! hahaha.. I haven't been buying any new clothes or shoes lately but have been spending some moolah on gorgeous underwear.

I really believe that all women of any size and age should have a pair (preferably matching ones) that makes them feel beautiful!  It's empowering! Much like the hot red lips. But this I like more. No one gets to judge you or make nasty comments about them. It's your own little secret! And it feels great!  Go on ladies! La Senza and Debenhams are having some good sale. Accessorize has some cute ones on sale too!

I want to post photos (not wearing them, of course!) because they're too darn cute. But I won't!

I've been gone again. Just three days. Feels longer. Apologies.

anyhows, this was from last week's movie date with the kiddos (my little sis and nephew). I went with flats because it's no fun chasing after very malikot kids in platforms. and what I really wanted to pair for this outfit was this..too bad I haven't bought it.
I've been lusting over it for months now but haven't fully convinced myself. Should I???

I originally bought this shirt for my dad but it was too small for him. saved it for myself. I'm such a daddy's girl that it was just a matter of time before I went and tried to dress like him. NOT that he would wear some bow tie and gold shoes. hahaha..

Insight

I feel FAT!
there I said it.
I'm not going to sugar coat it.

These past few weeks, I've noticed the rounder cheeks, the protruding belly and the floppy arms. I've lost the enthusiasm not only for taking outfit photos but with dressing up in general.

I've never been skinny really. Even at my lightest weight, I'm still considered voluptuous/curvy. It's the thighs and legs, plus the the huge bum, I know.

I'm still in the process of acceptance. Slowly I'm learning to dress for my body and not hide every inch of it. I'm getting there...but still a few hundred steps away. That is why I was so happy to have read Honey's latest post and have discovered the The Plump Pinay. These are some amazing gorgeous ladies.

I wasn't planning on posting this. but what the heck!

(blazer:bysi, pants: Hong Kong, shoes: H&M)

The love affair with black and white stripes continues. I borrowed this jacket from my mom. If I didn't think she'll notice if it's gone, I'll claim it for my own. I love it.

ps. This is in no way fishing for praises from anyone. I don't want to be taken as such.

Always In Between

(jumpsuit: bought online, shoes: Soule Phenomenon)

it’s a jumpsuit. it’s grey. it’s perfect for me! I’ve bought this months ago…haven’t found the right day to wear, until last Saturday.

it’s no fuss, that is until you need to do your business in the toilet.

Fact and Fave: Number 4

So this is my fourth random fact and favorite blogger that I said I was going to do, from the Stylish Blog Award tag I got. Sorry I'm taking so long to finish this.
You can check out the other 3 here, here and here.

Fact #4: I conquered 3 mountain peaks despite being Acrophobic.
Acrophobic:suffering from acrophobia; abnormally afraid of high places

I refuse to call myself a mountaineer because I don't think I possess the passion for it. However I am proud of myself because I manage to ascent and descent 3 mountains. For someone who veers away from any sport, physically unfit and generally vain, it was truly an achievement.

It was definitely no walk in the park but I endured it and did manage to have fun.

I had a totally different fact in mind but when I was browsing through Pax's blog I saw that she's a mountaineer...so I thought it's a nice symmetry right?

Favorite Fashion Blogger: Pax of Drowning Equilibriums
Being the "blazer addict" that I am, it was inevitable that I feature a fellow, self-confessed addict as well.

Pax has the knack for finding gorgeous pieces in the thrift store and the style to pull it off. Her style is a mix of quirky and classy. kinda polar opposites right? but she makes it work. And i love how she can wear oversize anything even with her petite physique.

mostly dressed in her thrift finds, she will make you drool over her unique clothes.

(yes, I know. I'd snatch that from her back if I could!)

definitely a lady not afraid of colors.

Preppy? Classic? definitely rocking it.

and her blazer collection! I die!

this is definitely one of my absolute favorite from her!!!

Pax is the person to blame for my new found penchant for thrift clothes. I bought my first ever from her online shop, Archive Clothing. And haven't stopped since. Most of my fabulous blazers were bought from her!

check her blog. and her shop!
