Gemini Thoughts : Empathy

Everyone is capable of love, of forgiveness, of compassion. It is within our basic human nature. But is also in our nature to assume that we are always right. That what we know and believe in is absolute. We tend to judge other people because they do not have the same philosophy as we do.

We often confuse fact with truth.

We need oxygen to breath, that is a fact. A woman can never have enough shoes, that is a truth. But it may only hold true to some women, not all. We cannot be all the same person, we can't all act in the same manner, we can't all believe in just one truth.

We all need eyes to see, that is another fact. BUT not everybody who has eyes sees the same things. Each person perceives his surrounding differently. A fact will always be a fact, but your truth may not be my truth

LOVE, joy, courage, compassion, laughter, honor...all big, important words that are thrown out there in books, quotes and movies. We've forgotten one that is just as powerful, EMPATHY. The  dictionary defines it as "the ability to understand and share the feelings of another"... I define it as seeing the world in the other person's perspective. You don't need to agree with all the choices a person makes, but that doesn't mean you don't need to see WHY he chose it.

Let us not love and forgive blindly, let us not be compassionate only to the people who are "good"...Open our hearts and also our eyes, see a person for the whole of his being. Go where he came from, live the circumstances that he was dealt with and understand what he's going through. And after all that, maybe you can just  respectfully agree to disagree.

Live life with LOVE and always love life with EMPATHY.

Gemini Thoughts: In Simple Days

It's finally December!!! 22 days before Christmas.

Also 29 days before we say goodbye to 2011. One more year and I can finally watch the movie 2012! I haven't watched it because I'm waiting for the "end of the world" to pass before I do.

Anyways....

I started my December great. After weeks of being postponed, I finally got to try Bikram Yoga. I've been curious about yoga for months, then I learned that my friend was doing it. I got more intrigued. Then my sister says she wants to do it. The universe has spoken!

I'm only on the trial period. It was only my 2nd day today. So far, I haven't really been enjoying the "classes" themselves, the heat is quite unbearable. I like the poses though.  But I'm not shutting it down yet. I need to give my body some time to adjust. I'll tell you more about it after I've completed the one week trial.

Also...

Today, I tweeted that our house was almost on fire. It prompted some worried phone calls from my family. Yikes!  I guess one should never tweet when you haven't recovered from "panicking".

It started with some candles and christmas wreath downstairs. Good thing I was awake because I usually nap around that time. Imagine this...my 4 year old nephew sleeping at the room downstairs alone, my tita and the yayas were outside. The kitchen doors were closed so they can't see or smell the smoke. I don't even wanna say what could have happened. I'm beyond thankful that I was home and awake!

Moving on...

Bloggers United Part 2!!!! Bigger and better than the first one. Hats off talaga to Melai, Ana and Pax. These girls are super amazing. Amidst all the things that they do, winner pa din sa planning. They even invited some really fabulous Cebu bloggers.

Excited and Anxious! I'm not really sure how I'll get there tomorrow. But I'll find a way. We've all seen the teasers of the bloggers and I'm scared for my wallet. Goodbye December paycheck (which was just handed to me today).

See you all there!!!

Now, to find me an outfit for tomorrow.

Gemini Thoughts: In Not Everyday

It's not everyday that your nephew celebrates his 4th birthday.
And it's not everyday that your sister celebrates her 30th

It's not everyday that your sister is home to celebrate for her birthday.
It's not everyday that you hear her crazy laughter from across the table.

It's not everyday that your sister shouts "I found Nemo" because someone was wearing a striped orange shirt.
And it's not everyday that your other sister's fiance IS wearing a striped orange shirt.

It's not everyday that you are the only one in flats when everybody else is hardly in heels.

It's not everyday that your yaya gets to laugh at you in front of an audience.

It's not everyday that you see your little sister pose like Darna while in a Wonder Woman costume.
It's not everyday that you see a boy a in a muscled Spider Man costume.

It's not everyday that you see your boyfriend excited about all the toys your nephew got.
And it's not everyday that you see him get more excited to open them up.

It's not everyday that your tube of lipstick wins your little sister a prize.

It's not everyday that you scan the room and you see your family complete.
And it's not everyday that you see them all just giggling and having fun.

It's not everyday but IT WAS TODAY
For what it's worth, I Thank God for TODAY

Gemini Thoughts: In Unfinished

SCN_0003

Regina
It's been over a year since I last held a pencil and sketch. I miss it terribly. And every time I try to start again, I seem to have no time in my hands. Which is really ironic considering I don't really do anything. My day is spent at the office, the gym and in front of the computer. Real productive right?

The sad part is...
If there's one thing I consider my passion, it would be art. I could spend literally the whole day just sketching and I wouldn't mind at all, and still do it the next day. It's something that gives me satisfaction and happiness. Something I would have loved to do for the rest of my life.

Now, if only....

Anyways, I need to get back at it and finished about 3 artworks. Hopefully I get the motivation I need.

Gemini Thoughts: In Wedding

I know you're all used to my vanity posts...so bear with this one.

I mainly created this blog for  anything beauty or fashion related and have constrained from ever getting to personal, well except for THIS POST. BUT I've come to realized that this blog has become shallow, cold and boring.

PLUS I really have  a lot of jumbled thoughts running through my head everyday and the best way I sort them out is through writing. I'm no "writer" writer, so don't expect to be blown away or anything by my literary skills. I mostly ramble like a lunatic (case in point). Anyways, I know most, if not all of you are just here for my other posts so if you see "Gemini Thoughts" in the title, just skip it. I won't be offended. :)

Geesh, that was a long intro!

Anyways, my sister recently got engaged. So naturally it got me thinking of weddings. Let me just say though, I was never the girl who dreamed about these things at a young age. Ask me then and I would have said, I don't see myself getting married. But when I finally did picture myself walking down that aisle, I first thought I wanted a lavish wedding. One so special that it will leave the guests in awe.I've come to realize though that it's not the flowers or the cake or the souvenirs that will make it memorable for everyone. It's about the couple making their lifetime vows to each other. I know that sounds cliche but I do honestly believe that.   And I don't think writing tear-jerking promises or showcasing tons of photos is the way to go as well... for me, the best way to achieve it is by being surrounded by people who loves you. Having a thousand guests that don't even know the name of the couple or what they look like is just a waste. It's not enjoyable for anyone.

Of all the weddings I've attended, I could only remember one that left me breathless. It was my high school bestfriend's. It was a small affair with not much hoopla. She didn't carry a bouquet with imported flowers, or wore a designer gown or had a parade of  a dozen sponsors. BUT I can still picture her walking down that aisle with a smile so beautiful it made us all cry in happiness. Now, that's how I want mine to be remembered.

I know some people consider it rude not to invite certain "associates or distant relative" but I say "Who cares? Kasal niyo ba?" hahaha...sorry, can't help it. seriously though, I'd rather have 50 guests that will laugh and cry with me on that day rather than 897 guests who are just waiting for the food to get served so they can go.

Disclaimer: These are just my own personal thoughts and does not  reflect any current or future situation in my sister's wedding.
